Barnsdale Gardens, near Oakham in Rutland, is delighted to announce the opening of a brand new outdoor art exhibition for this summer, featuring work by students from Creative Arts at New College Stamford. A broad range of subjects including Fine Art, Painting and Sculpture, Illustration, Textiles, Photography and Graphic Design are studied on the post 18 Higher Education programmes at the College and the exhibits include sculpture, painting, ceramics and more.
The pieces have been carefully chosen and placed amongst Barnsdale’s beautiful scenery, with some relating to individual gardens while others have been selected to add alternative areas of interest. They include existing work, often using recycled materials and linking to environmental issues, as well as several pieces which have been created specifically to set in the Gardens’ natural surroundings.
This is the first time that Barnsdale has hosted an art exhibition on this scale and owner Nick Hamilton believes that the idea of having the work outside is a very appealing one.
‘We’ve been so impressed by the variety and high standard of the work,’ he said, ‘and the gardens make a really great backdrop to the art, which in turn makes you take a second look at the sculptural elements of the garden designs. We’re very excited about the show and hope to make it an annual event.’
The exhibition has now been extended to run until 10th September. Don’t miss this exciting show by some very talented artists!
