Last year York’s St Nicholas Fair enjoyed its biggest footfall in its 23 year history
This success, coupled with York’s superb Christmas shopping opportunities made for a wonderfully busy city centre over the St Nicholas Fair weekend
This year St Nicholas Fair will be extended to cover the whole of the St Nicholas and Festive Fair period and will run from Saturday 27 November to Sunday 21 December.
Coaches will be welcomed throughout the Fair (pre – booking for the first weekend remains essential and is advised for the rest of the Fair) with convenient drop off and collection points for passengers close to the city centre.
Whilst coach parking is on the edge of York, easily accessible public transport runs into the city centre and a free shuttle bus will run into the city during the first weekend to make sure that drivers don’t have to miss out on the magic!
The Fair will be welcomed with a special grand opening weekend and this year there will be themed weeks of Food, Sparkles and Toys. As usual, pretty wooden huts and festive lights will line Parliament Street and stall holders will be dressed in Victorian costume. There will be a traditional carousel and a huge array of gifts, seasonal food and drinks, herbs, oils and decorations and much more.
The main markets will be complemented by others taking place across the city including the newly refurbished daily Market, the Made in Yorkshire art and craft market at the Guildhall, the Medieval Market at Barley Hall and an Arts and Crafts market at St William’s College.
St Nicholas Fair will be open daily from 9am to 6pm the first weekend (27 to 30 Nov) then 9am to 5pm Mon to Sat and 10am to 5pm Sun until 21 December.
