Crook Hall and Gardens: Tour Planners Sample its Spring Delights

Group Exclusive Launched

One of the North East’s top attractions welcomed the UK travel trade during a special unveiling event this week [16 April]

Crook Hall and Gardens, situated on the banks of the River Wear in the ancient city of Durham, revealed its brand new Group Exclusive package to tour operators.

Some of the operators were hosted by Wynyard Hall near Stockton-On-Tees and they arrived in a coach provided by well-known coach operator Coatham Coaches. The attendees enjoyed dinner and a tour of the gardens and glasshouse at Wynyard.

The group saw Crook Hall at its springtime best with tours of the medieval hall and its extensive grounds and gardens. The new café, shop and visitor facilities at the hall were included in the tour and the VIP guests could see that they help to make group visits even more worthwhile.

Coordinated by UK travel trade specialists Steve Reed Tourism Ltd from Hampshire, the tour planners included Simply Groups from West Yorkshire; Woods Travel from Sussex; Carefree Coaches from Cheshire; Walton’s Coaches from Lancashire and Gemmaway Travel from Hertfordshire.

The visit helped underline that Crook Hall is at the heart of an area that has a tremendous selection of group attractions such as Beamish, Raby Castle, the Bowes Museum and Durham Cathedral.

Members of the Confederation of Passenger Transport [CPT] were in attendance including Stanley Travel from County Durham. Destination Durham were also at the event. Blue Badge Tourist Guide Laura Rhodes joined the group at Crook Hall.

The 13th century Grade 1 listed and rare medieval hall provides what is a spectacular backdrop to the stunning gardens. Since 1995 Maggie and Keith Bell have been the proud owners of Crook Hall and Gardens.

‘We were very pleased to have welcomed the tour planners to Crook Hall and Gardens – the weather was great and so were the reactions of the guests,’ says Siobhan McDermid of Crook Hall.

‘We now have a super array of group offerings for people who plan group tours – made all the more attractive with our lovely new café and shop.’

And thanks also to the tourism businesses such as Wynyard Hall and Coatham Coaches who helped to make the unveiling a big success.’ For further information about Crook Hall and Gardens or to book a group visit should ring Siobhan McDermid on [0191] 3848028. Email info@crookhallgardens.co.uk
