To coincide with National Apprenticeship Week (6 to 12 February), Daish’s Holidays (Daish’s), a UK based family-owned coach holiday provider, is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its apprenticeship scheme and is set to recruit up to 20 apprentices during 2023.

Daish’s currently has 11 apprentices enrolled on its programme and aims to invest in and recruit a new cohort of apprentices across all of its 12 hotels in England and Wales. There are a variety of courses available within the operations, kitchen and front-of-house teams ranging between Level 2 to Level 5 qualifications.

Current apprentice Nikolett Frittman is working towards completing a Level 5 management apprenticeship at the Bournemouth Sands Hotel and began the apprenticeship to increase her knowledge and skillset in her chosen career. Nikolett commented: “I started the apprenticeship to better myself and to learn more about the job that I have been doing. There are several staff management tools I have learnt and can use daily, and I have become a lot more confident when arranging meetings with staff. I am hoping to become a general manager in the future with the help and guidance of the management team at the Bournemouth Sands Hotel.”

The apprenticeship roles currently available at Daish’s include Chef de Partie, Hospitality Supervisor, Operations Manager, Business Administrator and Customer Service Specialist.

Adam Browne is currently working towards a Level 2 team member apprenticeship at the Devonshire Hotel in Torquay. He said: “I wanted to learn on the job instead of going to college full-time, as I don’t enjoy classroom-based learning and thrive and learn by being in a busy workplace environment.

“After I finish the apprenticeship, I want to continue my career in hospitality. I’m looking forward to continuing my learning with a team leader qualification and hopefully becoming a hotel General Manager in the future.”

Paul Harper, commercial director at Daish’s Holidays, added: “We are committed to investing in our teams and providing them with the best support and resources to progress with Daish’s.

An apprenticeship or training course is a great way to be able to do this, regardless of current experience, and we’re looking forward to recruiting further apprentices on to our programme this year. Once candidates complete their courses, we offer each the opportunity to take up a permanent position in one of our hotels.”

In addition to apprenticeships, Daish’s offers a training academy based at the Imperial Hotel in Eastbourne, which offers various diplomas, courses and work experience. Apprenticeships at Daish’s are offered through Locomotivation and are suitable for people over the age of 16.
