A Great Day Out in Market Harborough for Groups

Market Harborough is one of the ‘jewels of the East Midlands’. 

Regularly named as one of the best places to live in the UK, the town is surrounded by rolling countryside and with its historic charm and thriving mix of independent retailers it is a wonderful place for the group traveler to visit.

At the very heart of the picturesque town you will find Harborough Indoor Market.

The market boasts over 60 stalls, including a recently refurbished food hall which offers everything from speciality cheese, locally sourced meat, fish, cakes, confectionary and food to eat in or take away. There is a central café, a dim sum stall and even a traditional fish and chip stall so you won’t be stuck for tasty lunch ideas whilst taking a break from shopping and sight seeing.

The market general hall is dedicated to nonfood stalls with homewares, traditional Turkish lamps, haberdashery, prints, jewellery, fashion, furniture and much more on offer. Wednesday sees the addition of an Antiques, Retro and Collectables Market. On Thursday there is a Craft Market and each Sunday there is a popular Antiques Market.

The market provides a convenient drop off point for coaches’ right outside its doors and free parking is only a ten minute walk away for coach trips booked in advance There are excellent new toilet facilities and drivers will receive a free drink and meal voucher.

The market offers a great central location from which to explore the town and its historic high street, which features the must see 16thcentury stilted Old Grammar School, the 14th century St Dionysius Church and the modern museum housed in the former Symington’s corset factory,

The town is within easy reach of major routes including M6, M1, A6 and A14 and with a wide range of local attractions such as Rockingham Castle, Lamport Hall, Foxton Locks and the King Richard III tomb and Visitors Centre within a 4 to 15 mile journey, it’s an ideal stop off point with plenty to do to really make a day of it!
