A new exhibition at one of the south coast’s most exciting new venues will open with a virtual launch.
Those Who Look Out & Those Who Look Back by Laura Eldret and Paul Vivian was due to open this Saturday March 21st at God’s House Tower in Southampton. But due to the Coronavirus crisis the venue has had to temporarily close, meaning the opening event will now be streamed online.
Daniel Crow, director of God’s House Tower – which opened late last year after a £3.1million refurbishment project – said: “We’re really devastated that GHT has to close temporarily. However we are determined to still deliver as much of our events programme as possible online, and hope that people are able to log on and join in. Those Who Look Out & Those Who Look Back is a fascinating exhibition and hopefully this will allow people around the world, not just those local to Southampton, to see it. This really does herald a new era in God’s House Tower’s fascinating 700-year-old history by presenting art exhibitions online!”
Artist Laura Eldret said: “It’s incredibly sad times but to have the building to ourselves to install the work has been really special though quite eery. We have always talked about the views from the windows as an inherent part of this exhibition and it feels even more so now as empty cruise ships line up in Southampton’s docks. We look forward to sharing the exhibition with people in any way that we can.”
People will be able to see the exhibition this Saturday on GHT’s social media channels:
