Skipton Boat Trips is a family run company based in the heart of Skipton (Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales)

Our philosophy is our customers come first and you can expect a warm welcome with high standards of customer care. Whether you choose our 1 hour cruise with celebrity commentary or a 3 hour lunch, the attention to detail is key for us.

Skipton Boat Trips

“Cobbydale” is our 56 seater wide beam canal boat which we use for our 1 hour cruise with commentary. Group bookings are always welcome and  would include tea, coffee and biscuits.

“Dalesman” is our flag ship wide beam canal boat with seating up to 48 people (dependant on food options) and is very popular amongst groups and organisations for a cruise with a difference.

Whether you are looking for just a 2 hour cruise or a Sunday roast dinner cruise, we have something for everyone. We have a wide choice of food options, including but not limited to cream teas, afternoon tea, 2 course lunch, skippers buffet, admirals buffet, pie and mash and Christmas Dinner cruises.

Dalesman is solely used for private charters, which means you are guaranteed the boat to yourselves and the helpful crew will be happy to tend to your individual needs. Dalesman can be hired from 2 hours up to a full day cruise with a choice of destination and meal options. Dalesman comes complete with a fully licensed bar and all modern facilities. There is nothing more relaxing than spending a few hours cruising the canal whilst enjoying good company, good food and attentive staff

The Leeds to Liverpool canal is steeped in history and in 2016 celebrated its 200th year in operation, from its heyday of carrying coal, wool and stone from the dales to Leeds and Liverpool through to modern day pleasure and private boaters enjoying the tranquil slow pace of life.

So if you want to slow down a bit from the fast pace of modern life and enjoy a cruise on this historic canal please do not hesitate to contact us for more information and options for your cruise.

“Some people say it’s how peaceful they feel as lush green Yorkshire dales drift by on our gentle canal cruises. But everyone agrees it’s the heroic efforts of our thoughtful crew that really charms them back.

In fifteen years of boat trips we’ve helped lots of satisfied people put the fun back into planning their perfect day out. So place your Skipton canal trip in our capable hands. We take extra care before, during and after your booking to make everyone’s experience more enjoyable, especially yours.”

Nick, Proprietor

“We wanted to share our experience of Skipton with some visiting friends, one of whom is partially sighted. For them this was a great trip. Assistance to board, an informative and amusing narrative accompanied the trip which was towards Gargrave and certainly made the trip very enjoyable for our partially sighted friend. Worth every penny (and it was a very reasonable price) for an hours trip on a damp afternoon. Would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to know a little bit about the history of Skipton, with an hour to spare. Bar and soft drinks and nibbles available to purchase on board. “

“This is a one hour cruise that, rain or shine, is a good way of seeing the town in a different perspective. The Liverpool and Leeds Canal has an interesting history and you travel along between scenic banks and through several swing bridges. The commentary is informative and the humour add a interesting dimension to the experience. Highly recommended.”
