A North Lancashire historic home this week announces a package for groups which will bring a glimmer of light to the dark, winter evenings.
Leighton Hall, near Carnforth, the home of the world famous Gillow furniture making family is opening the hall in the evenings and offering prebooked groups, an atmospheric tour by flickering candle light between November and February.
Guided by the lady of the house, Mrs Gillow Reynolds or one of her enthusiastic team, visitors will be able to discover the fascinating history of Leighton Hall and the secrets of the family who live there. This exclusive tours ends with mulled wine and mince pies served in front of a roaring open fire in the magnificent Music Room.
Leighton Hall is just 10 minutes from the M6, exit 35. The Hall has been open to the public for almost 60 years, but is still very much a lived in, family home. Every visitor is greeted at the impressive entrance before being guided through the house & every room in the house from the imposing, panelled dining room to the modest, private chapel is used regularly by the Gillow Reynolds friends & family.
Suzie Gillow Reynolds said, “We love to have groups visiting Leighton – It brings the house alive. Over the years, we’ve developed different themed tours specifically for groups, but the candlelit tour is our favourite. Leighton is a gothic house and seeing it by a glimmering light, across long shadows is an intriguing and very different experience from a warm sunny afternoon!” Only one tour each evening. £14.95 per person, for further details:-
