Belvoir Castle

Belvoir Castle

Built in the early 1800s today’s Belvoir Castle is the fourth to stand on the site, with those before it being lost to wars and a devastating fire. Designed by James Wyatt, Belvoir Castle is one of the finest examples of Regency architecture in the world, its turrets and towers stand proudly against the skyline. Positioned on top of a hill overlooking the plains of the Vale of Belvoir and surrounded by a 15 acre estate, made up of gardens and farmland, the castle is one of the most picturesque locations in England.

The Duke and Duchess of Rutland feel privileged to call Belvoir Castle their home, with 36 generations of the family living here for almost 1,000 years. It is with great pleasure that the Manners family invite you into their home to share the wonderful rooms and layers of history, as well as numerous paintings and treasures.

Throughout the year visitors have the opportunity to join our special tours including ‘what the butler saw’ and ‘above and below the stairs,’ giving you a glimpse into what life is like as a family living at Belvoir Castle, and what really happens beyond the walls. This fairy-tale castle also offers you the chance to wander through beautiful gardens and woodland with several walks through the grounds, there is something accessible for all abilities.
