CPT’s call for data from coach operators travelling to the Rugby World Cup

Coach operators, who are using the Port of Dover and the Channel Tunnel for the Rugby World Cup, are being encouraged to help shape DfT’s and the Port’s response to a potentially busy travel period.

The request for data comes from CPT, the leading trade association for the UK’s coach sector, who met with the DfT this week. With the Rugby World Cup in France kicking off on the 9th of September, DfT and the Port want to ensure they can effectively meet the increase in coach travel and visiting supporters.

CPT, in collaboration with DfT, has developed a survey that aims to identify dates and timings where there could be potential increased coach activity at the Port.

Phil Smith, Coaching Manager at the Confederation of Passenger Transport, said:

“It has been pleasing to hear that coach operators are reporting full order books this summer for group travel, including for popular events such as the Rugby World Cup. We would encourage all operators to complete our survey, which will help ensure that coaches can travel through the Port as efficiently as possible.

“This is another excellent example of CPT working in partnership with DfT for the benefit of our members and the wider sector.”

The survey can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/DoverRWC

All data submitted is anonymous, and all responses will be passed onto DfT and the Port of Dover to help them with their planning.
