Mountain Goat set for a greener future through new charity partnership

A new partnership is set to celebrate the best of the Lake District while protecting the region for the future.

Lake District tour specialist Mountain Goat is joining forces with the Lake District Foundation, a Kendal-based charity, to raise funds and provide people power for projects benefiting the National Park.

Passengers exploring the Lake District on Mountain Goat’s tours will now experience the region’s beauty and have the chance to protect the local environment. By encouraging passenger donations, Mountain Goat aims to raise thousands of pounds to fund projects that support biodiversity, including woodland management, hedgerow planting, and the creation of new reedbeds in Windermere.

With a long-held passion for the Lake District, the Windermere-based staff team, including many Mountain Goats drivers, will also participate in a series of action days, volunteering to help projects supported by the Lake District Foundation.

In addition to helping remove cars from the roads, Mountain Goat is committed to looking after the area it calls home. In 2023, UKInbound awarded the company’s ‘Sightseeing Operator of the Year’ and held a Green Tourism Silver Award.

CEO of the Lake District Foundation, Sarah Swindley, said,This is such an exciting collaboration for us. Many visitors want to ensure the stunning environment is protected for years to come, but don’t always know how to offer their support.
