Coach tours invited to visit the stunning Stody Lodge Gardens throughout May 2018

The 14-acre rhododendron and azalea gardens at Stody Lodge near Holt in North Norfolk will be welcoming the public through its gates once again next May.

These exceptional gardens are popular with both local and national coach tours thanks to its warm welcome and extraordinary explosion of colour that provide a great day out for even non-garden lovers.

Visitors to these gardens, a hidden gem in North Norfolk, will be amazed by the riot of colour thanks to its extensive collection of over 200 varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas. This intensity of colour is softened by beautiful magnolias, camellias, ornamental and specimen trees, late daffodils and bluebells. There are also beautiful rhododendron-lined woodland pathways to explore and expansive lawns and magnificent yew hedging to enjoy.

Stody Lodge also boasts a little-known national treasure: its exceptional four-acre Azalea Water Gardens which is widely believed to be the largest single planting of vividly coloured azalea mollis (over 2,000 plants) in the UK.

London architect Walter Sarel was commissioned to design Stody Lodge and its gardens in 1932 by the 1st Viscount Rothermere, the British newspaper proprietor and founder of the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror. The gardens’ original design have been protected as much as possible whilst developing new areas, deepening the herbaceous borders and adding interest around the lodge.

Stody Lodge Gardens is proud of the warm welcome it extends to all its visitors. It offers delicious homemade teas in aid of local charities, a plant stall by the local award-winning Edgefield Nurseries, and good wheelchair access to most areas of the garden.  Dogs on leads are also welcome.

Stody Lodge Gardens is open 1pm-5pm on Sunday 6th, Sunday 13th, Sunday 20th, Sunday 27th and Bank Holiday Monday 28th May 2018.
